Attorney · Builder — Santa Monica, California

I build at the intersection of AI and California law. Attorney by license. Builder by practice.

I'm John Michael Jensen. I founded NextLaw.pro — an AI-powered legal information and attorney consultation platform, live now — and I'm developing ClearlyConcise, a privilege-preserving collaboration tool for attorneys and their clients. The legal practice — employment & labor, business law, civil litigation — is the foundation. The products are the work.

What I'm Building

Most lawyers advising on AI have never shipped anything built on it.

I have. Building these systems — the prompts, the model behavior, the data handling, the failure modes — is the center of my work now. The law license isn't decoration; it's the reason the products exist.

Live

legal_information → attorney_consultation

Most people with a legal question don't need a retainer — they need clear information and an honest read on whether the situation actually calls for an attorney. NextLaw.pro is my answer: an AI-powered platform that delivers legal information in plain language, with a path to a real attorney consultation when the question demands one. I founded it and built it — which means every design decision, from how the model is prompted to how the data is handled, reflects what an attorney knows the stakes to be.

ClearlyConcise

In development

privilege_preserving · attorney ↔ client

AI can make legal work dramatically faster — but route attorney-client collaboration through the wrong tool, the wrong way, and the protections that make legal work confidential can be put at risk. ClearlyConcise is a privilege-preserving collaboration tool for attorneys and their clients, designed so the efficiency of AI-assisted legal work doesn't come at the cost of the confidentiality protections that make it legal work in the first place. It's the problem I find most worth solving right now.

Counsel, Occasionally

I still practice — selectively.

I take on a handful of counsel engagements at a time, and only when the question is genuinely interesting — usually the kind where understanding how these systems are actually built is half the analysis.
